I hate AllKpop

kpopsecrets:

Those self righteous pricks always embed my videos WITHOUT my permission, use my links WITHOUT notifying NOR crediting me!

My youtube/niconicodouga/tudou links always have some degree of privacy, such as the vids being set to private/unlisted. This is because I record them for my personal use, and for certain members of my friends and family who are Koreans who have moved overseas and have no access to Korean IP addresses. I don’t intend on sharing in case of any legal problems, and I always delete the vids after everyone of my family and friends have viewed them, which is usually around 2 weeks after posting.

I guess one of my ‘friends’ must work for allkpop, because my vids keep ending up there, resulting in MANY C&D warnings from the listed companies. Which is a waste because I was the only link for my far flung relatives to view their homeland tv programing.

I have contacted allkpop over and over and over again to tell them to stop using my vids.

Their reply?

I should be happy that they’re giving me fame and channel views. That I am useless without them…. And that they WILL continue to hunt me down for my videos wherever I go because I’m kind enough to use HD. And that it’s my stupidity that led to the C&Ds because I’m stupid enough to be used by them (allkpop)

If they have their own offices, surely they can hire thier own recorders/uploaders! Why must they rely on a third party? And it’s appalling that they would trample on other users and let them shoulder the brunt of the fines/C&D warnings just to get their weekly content.

God, they’re such a scam!

s!b apparently allkpop is the best site in the world and can do no wrong in ‘reporting’ all things kpop.

I don’t think anyone likes them; posters or users, they are all so damn biased and ignorant

kpop labels getting dumber?

needsmoarinpiniteu:

kpopsecrets:

I don’t understand why so many labels this year think it’s a good idea to debut their idol groups. I mean wouldn’t it be better for them to debut their group when not that many are debuting instead of doing it while 50 other labels also do it, which gives a smaller chance to success? How much would it hurt them to hold on the trainees for a bit longer and prepare them better? A lot of the groups debuting are just average in both talent and concept. They don’t bring anything new or interesting to the table. It just feels like their label rushed to debut them just for the sake of debuting somebody.

Genetic song + averange skills + unprepared + boring concept + unoriginal promoting + bad timing + ridiculous group name = failure

How is any of this good business? What were they thinking?

s!b: some fans of one of the 50+ new groups might get offended

Why do people buy lottery tickets? Repeatedly? The odds of you winning the lottery are far worse than any given group becoming wildly successful. And yet people do it again and again in hopes that they’ll hit the jackpot. The mentality is much the same.

This question has been repeated too many times. The whole point of this is making money and it is working. There’s so much demand these days from fans that many companies are trying to get a piece of the pie.

People complain how “back in the days” kpop didn’t have that many debuts in a year, but it’s because there are many groups that didn’t succeed and eventually disappeared. It may be that there are more groups debuting today, but sooner or later they will end up the same.

Apparently weird group names and engrish lyrics are the trend and it really makes their songs and group stand out so I don’t think that is a failure.

it’s exhausting

inspiritforsungjong:

kpopsecrets:

There’s all of these rookie groups that are debuting and its so exhausting to stan/support them. On Wiki, only 4 groups debuted in 1996. 6 groups debut in 1997. 6 in 2003 and 2004. In 2012, there’s 58…

I just wish we could go back to those years before where not a lot of groups debuted and we just took our time to stan them and everything. Also not to mention that the rookie groups will probably split up or some members will leave in due time. Majority of these groups are from “unknown” companies, and to be honest, they won’t really stand a chance against the bigger companies. I know this has been said before but god can SK’s groups just slow down on debuting.

idk I just needed to get this out

s!b I feel like most people will just say shut up and enjoy the new rookies debuting but it’s just too much

I am confused….

Am I the only person that believes in free market mechanisms?

This happens all the time: an industry becomes profitable, so more competitors enter the industry to try to get a piece of that pie. It happens with ANY industry, jeans, computers, microwaves, shampoo, books, duct tape, toothpicks…but I don’t ever see anyone complaining saying “there are too many clothing brands, no way these new ones stand a chance so why do people keep starting new brands?”

New competitors enter the industry. If they fail, they exit the industry. It’s that simple. You’re the consumer and you make your choices. More suppliers is actually good for you as a consumer because you have a better chance of finding an option that satisfies your taste. It really is none of your business how many suppliers there are, your consumption is fixed at some limit.

I am sick of people saying “there are too many rookies, I can’t keep up with them all”. Pardon me but who is making you study all of these rookies? Do you feel compelled to try every new brand of cereal, chicken noodle soup, shampoo, clothes, perfume, floss and toothpick when they pop up? Seriously? No one is forcing you. If you don’t want to get personally invested in a group because you’re afraid they might be one of the ones that fail then just avoid them altogether. Wait until the winners and losers are clear and then go get to know them once there’s no danger of them disbanding due to lack of success. (Yes, this means you’ll probably always end up stanning the successful groups and overlook good groups that got unlucky, but if you’re really afraid of losing a group you’re personally attached to, this is the way to go)

This is how a free market works. Just let it be.

Majority of these groups are from “unknown” companies, and to be honest, they won’t really stand a chance against the bigger companies.

LOL…Secret, Sistar, B2ST, U-Kiss, Teen Top, B1A4, and many more idol groups were able to establish a decent fanbase in their so-called “unknown companies” and they end up making great profits for their company, and some of them end up debuting more groups.

No matter how many groups debut, there will always be several that succeed. Based on survival of the fittest, other groups will be eliminated and over time you will just end up forgetting them or not even get a chance to know them so why bother? If you want to stan your own group, no one else is stopping you. But if you constantly feel disturbed because of new groups ruining your “bias list”, then it’s just your own preference to choose which ones to like. The blame should not be on South Korea at all (and not the companies either), it’s fans that are spending their money on them! I agree that all these debuts are exhausting and I think OP will find it less frustrating if you don’t go on allkpop so often…

Soon the kpop market will become saturated and the debuts will stop anyways; but when there’s demand, there will always be a source that supplies this need.

Sexiness in Kpop

kpopsecrets:

I hate how people are acting like girls being sexy in kpop is new. It seems like they think female singers weren’t sexy up until 2009. Sure singers might not have been dancing like Hyuna or Minzy but they were still sexy. Lexy, Ivy, Harisu, BoA, Swi.T,Chae Yeon, Lee Hyori, Um Junghwa, and Baby V.O.X. have had some of the sexiest videos in kpop. There is nothing wrong with a singer having a sexy image unless you they are a child. These women are not sluts and whores because they are sexy but calling sluts and whores makes you immature and look stupid. If dancing sexy makes idol girls sluts, then your precious perfect oppa is a man whore.

s!b: The “oh so conservative and pure” Hyuna and Minzy haters will have an issue with this.

I would like to add that the gender equality problem is the most obvious when it comes to new debuting groups and these comments irritates me the most.

Whenever a new girl group debuting, fans will be like:

“Stop f**king debut groups!!” “Another fail KPOP girl group.” “The cutesyness gotta go.” “That girl reminds me of Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon! LOL.” “She looks like a toad…” “Their name is spelled UGLY!!” “SNSD/2NE1 WANNABES”

exception: YG (SM/JYP) new groups

Whenever a new boy group is debuting, fans will be like:

“aww these guys are so cute, what’s their name?” “My babies!! Noona crying happily <3” “They deserve it because they have been working so hard!” “HOLY SHIT THEY DIDN’T LIPSYNC!!” “MY BODY IS READY”

Fandoms of “under-rated/appreciated” groups.

inspiritforsungjong:

kpopsecrets:

While I definitely sympathize with them, some fans also need to learn when to man up and not look pitiful.

I speak as someone who follows a group who is generally seen as underrated. I love my fandom for being hardworking, kind and for also positive during times when our group isn’t particularly doing well but I start to feel embarrassed once they start playing the victim.

These fandoms start to whine and say things like, “Our group has worked SO hard, they’re unique and so much more talented than [this group], Korea is biased against them and don’t know how to appreciate true talent anymore!” I understand that it’s difficult when our groups aren’t as successful and yes I know sometimes fans really are genuinely upset and should be allowed to rant; but it’s a little sad how they have resort to being overdramatic and pointing fingers at popular groups who may actually be just as hardworking and talented. And I don’t know about other fandoms, but with mine it happens basically any time we don’t win a music show award or an award we were nominated for. I just wish these fandoms would appreciate what they have and stop throwing their pride away.

S!B people in my fandom whom I talk fall under this and wouldn’t understand or appreciate what I have to say.

THIS TYVM

EVERY TIME. Every time a big group comes back this happens and it is completely annoying ==

Most of the time this “underrated/under appreciated” rant comes up from these fandoms, it makes me feel that they are actually not that underrated.

Well at least there are many people that recognise them, not like most groups who are just as talented but don’t even know if they have the opportunity to promote next time.

how kpop has destroyed my view of beauty.

kpopsecrets:

Since I have been into kpop, sure its about the music yet their appearance counts too. When I see new girl groups, it all depends on how they look. Most of them have the ”perfect” face and body. Most have a V face, S line and other ”lines”. They are actually pretty skinny and they weight very little.

Sometimes, I think that I want to look like them, I want to be perfect. Sure whatever call me a ”wannabe” but you know it’s true, you want to be ”perfect”. Sometimes I try to look at other idols that have the same age as me and try to weight like them yet they are way too skinny. (i’m pretty young..14 go head judge me all you want but I don’t care.)

When that doesn’t work I look for those with the same height as me and I try to reach their weight yet they are older than me by like 5-10 years. I just feel fat. I’m 164cm and weight 53kg.

All I’m happy with is my legs… because they are the same measurements of SNSD.

I keep getting discouraged everyday of how I look.

Now for the boys… My ideal type has now high expectations.

Most of the guys are tall or really tall. Are really handsome, A bubbly personality, most are good at dancing and singing, and last of all Korean. In the country I live, it’s really hard to find.

(Sure I’m young but you know I can dream.)

This is my story.

Kpop might have certain beauty standards, but don’t blame your high expectations solely on Kpop. Your life is filled with advertisements and ideals that are made to be there to change your expectations. You need to know that it’s not only Kpop that has standards. There are many things around your life that is made to shape a certain lifestyle for the purpose of making you consume certain products.

For example, you might be walking to your school and you will probably pass by many ads telling you that slim=attractive, Starbucks=the ideal place to social with your friends, Nike=you can be an athletic individual by purchasing their shoes, etc.

These standards exist and although it’s difficult to completely isolate yourself from them, you should know that many of these are idealistic and unrealistic, and sometimes these images are achieved by unhealthy diets.

Not all the members of girl groups (eg. SNSD) fit into the ideals that they are advertised as (eg. long legs and attractive faces); this applies to all groups, including boy groups.

KPop Secrets!: Death threats

itshysterie:

kpopsecrets:

I used to upload youtube vids of random variety shows and weekly concerts for my family and friends since I’m studying in South Korea. Those links are unlisted and I didn’t think of making them private since I thought I had trustworthy ‘friends’.

Well, sometimes my vids made it as alternate links…

Okay. Seriously? People are so freaky about freaking video files? Let me not live on this planet anymore…

I don’t know if I should take this seriously or not because I don’t see the point of someone from the other side of the Pacific Ocean planning to murder you because of some videos.
